Dear friends,  

We are Emma & Borah. We are currently working as volunteers at the Amy Foundation in Cape Town, for our minor at the Hotel Management School Maastricht. The Amy Foundation is a non-profit organization that offers programs for young adults that live in townships to offer them a better future. The living conditions in these townships are very poor because there is a lot of crime and poverty. The Amy Foundation is an organization that wants to make a positive contribution to the future of these young people.  

We are currently part of the hospitality team. Our goal is to help young adults between the age of 18-35 to find a job in the hospitality industry. The current situation is that +/- 55% are unemployed in this age category. Through cooking and hospitality workshops we want to prepare students for an internship in a hotel or to help them get a job. The last 2 weeks and the upcoming 8 weeks we teach two classes consisting of 8 young adults. They all have the dream of being able to take care of their family and are willing to do whatever it takes to find a job.  

Unfortunately, we have noticed that there are too little materials available to prepare them for the hotel industry in a professional manner. As a result, we would like to leave something behind when we leave the Amy Foundation to optimize the lessons and increase the learning output. To achieve this, we need help to be able to finance the costs. Only by drinking two beers less (also good for the hangover the next morning ;) ), we can already buy one apron!   

By giving a small donation you can help us to reach our goal and as a result improve the situation and support the future of these young adults. Every euro counts!    

We will use the collected amount to be able to donate the missing lesson material.

Lieve vrienden,   

Wij zijn Emma & Borah. Voor onze minor van de Hotel Management School Maastricht doen wij momenteel vrijwlligerswerk bij de Amy Foundation in Kaapstad, Zuid-Afrika. De Amy Foundation is non-profit organisatie die programma's aanbiedt voor jongeren uit de townships (sloppenwijken) om ze op deze manier een betere toekomst te bieden. In deze sloppenwijken zijn de leefomstandigheden erg slecht doordat er veel criminaliteit en armoede aanwezig is. De Amy Foundation is een organisatie die een positieve bijdrage wil leveren aan de toekomst van deze jongeren.   

Wij maken momenteel deel uit van het hospitality team. Ons doel is om jong volwassenen tussen de 18-35 jaar te helpen met het vinden van een baan in de horeca. Momenteel is de situatie zo dat +/- 55% in deze leeftijdscategorie werkloos is. Door middel van kook- en hospitality workshops willen wij studenten voorbereiden op een stageplek in een hotel of bij het helpen aan een baan. De afgelopen 2 weken en de komende 8 weken geven wij les aan twee klassen bestaande uit 8 jongvolwassenen. Zij hebben allemaal de droom om later voor hun familie te kunnen zorgen en zijn bereidt alles op alles te zetten om aan een baan te komen.   

Ons is helaas opgevallen dat er te weinig materialen zijn om ze op een professionele manier te kunnen klaarstomen voor de hotellerie. Daardoor willen wij graag wat achterlaten wanneer wij de Amy Foundation zullen verlaten om de lessen te optimaliseren en het leerrendement te vergroten. Om dit te bereiken hebben wij hulp nodig om de kosten te kunnen financieren. Door alleen al 2 biertjes minder te drinken (ook goed tegen de kater), kunnen wij al 1 schort kopen!   

Door een kleine donatie te geven kan je ons helpen om ons doel te bereiken met als gevolg de situatie en de toekomst van de jongvolwassenen te verbeteren. Elke euro telt!    

Het opgehaalde bedrag zullen wij gebruiken om het missende les materiaal te kunnen schenken.
