BE A TREE: interactive play for Ukrainian kids in NL
Hi everyone,
We are a group of 15 expats from Russia/Ukraine living in the Netherlands with kids. From our roles as parents, we felt the need to create something for the children that belong to the families fleeing from the war in Ukraine and that are currently residing in the Netherlands.
One of our group members is Daria Zueva, a Russian acting teacher, who has been living in the Netherlands for the past 4 years. And with her as our lead, we have developed an interactive play for children ages 4+ that we have been working on for the past month.
The play is called ‘Be A Tree’ based on the book by Maria Gianfernani, and is in the Russian language and draws the metaphor between trees and people - and the harmony a forest has at its core.
Though we are all non-professional actors, working people aged 30+, the idea we can help alleviate what these kids and their parents are going through has motivated us highly.
Our bigger plan is to perform this play in a traveling/carnival fashion at various locations in the Netherlands where refugees are being housed at the moment.
The premier will be already at the end of May 2022 in Arnhem. We really hope it will help our new residents to feel welcome in the country, add a bit more excitement to their life, spark their imagination, and, hopefully, help our audience - both kids and parents - to find new friends!
As we are all participating in this initiative for free and without any sponsors we hope to find people that can support us in covering the following expenses:
- Decorations: 740 EUR
- Interactive activities with kids from the audience: 53 EUR
- Printing out brochures: 51 EUR
- Transportation & travel expenses by the end of 2022: ca. 700 EUR
Total: 1544 EUR
